Description
“Ratchet & Clank – Size Matters” is a platform video game of 2007 which SCE has revealed. It is the first game in the Ratchet & Clank sequel series to be released for PSP. Insomniac Games, the primary designer of Ratchet & Clank, gave rise to High Impact Games. The plot involves Ratchet and Clank as they have to break away from their vacation to look for a girl who has been hijacked. It comes across the Techno mites, a mysterious race.
Critics gave the PSP version mostly favorable reviews, although the PS2 version had conflicting feedback. Moreover, it delivered 4.4 million copies of the game. The PSP edition was remade for the PlayStation 4 and 5 on July 16, 2024. With this adapted edition, players can have customized monitors, awards, save states, replay, and improved graphics.
Gameplay
Firstly, there is space fighting, much like in the first game and Going Commando. However, instead of controlling a ship, the user is controlling Giant Clank. There are also stage fights, but this time the player takes on the role of Clank driving a range of vehicles. While this is limited to a single segment of the game. Clank makes a reappearance as a playable personality. It recovers control over a group of tiny robots known as Gadgets that can carry out specific tasks on his behalf. However, Gadgets can still be used by the player in Clank Challenges. Additionally, players may attend a variety of skyboard racing activities to gain extra defense parts, gadgets, and bolts.
Secondly, there is a new method for earning protection. As opposed to purchasing defense from specialized merchants as in games like Going Commando. Protection components are located in levels and can be assembled to create a variety of suits. Each of these has a specific benefit in addition to extra protection. The option for switching to “Challenge Mode” is available to players after they finish the game. The game is more difficult in challenge mode, with more powerful opponents. All of the protection, bolts, and weapons that have been obtained thus far are used to fight this. In Challenge Mode, there is a bolt booster function along with new protection sets to choose from. Moreover, weapons can be further enhanced by collecting “Titan” editions.
Thirdly, in the game, 25 total Skill Points can be achieved through completing specific tasks, the names of which serve as the only hint. These will enable in-game attacks. However, there are 20 Titanium Bolts that may be purchased in Ratchet skins.
