Description
“Spider-Man – Friend or Foe ” is an adventurous beat ’em up game of 2007. This game is focused on the main character Spider-Man of Marvel comics. In a two-player cooperative mode, one player takes handling of Spider-Man while the other handles one of his teammates. Spider-Man travels the world after being chosen by S.H.I.E.L.D. to find these pieces on his own and gather additional supporters for his cause. The game’s plot depends on P.H.A.N.T.O.M.s, harmful monsters made from symbiote, and holographic technology that a hidden villain aims to release to rule the entire planet. Several of Spider-Man’s enemies have also been taken prisoner and manipulated by this villain to assist him in obtaining meteor pieces that would improve his army.
In October 2007, Activision launched the game for Nintendo DS, PlayStation 2, Wii, Windows, Xbox 360, and PlayStation Portable. Critics gave it largely negative reviews, saying that it was too simple and boring. The game is set in a different time where villains from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movie stay alive. It features characters and graphics from that movie as well. However, the story itself is not linked to movies.
Gameplay
Firstly, Friend or Foe, Spider-Man has The Helicarrier acts as a major hub and is the route via which Spider-Man and his friends access planet levels. The main character that players control is Spider-Man, but they may always shift to a sidekick that is with him at any time in the level. A second player can enter and take on the role of the sidekick. Every character has a particular fighting style. As the story develops, more sidekicks are brought in, and they might be heroes or villains—the latter of whom must first be destroyed in a boss battle. However, Spider-Man is the only playable character in boss battles—not the sidekick.
Secondly, a technological tree allows for the development of every character. The most important modifications to Spider-Man’s fighting skills are in his three fully functional, replaceable web forms, which may be activated and used. Every other character has one special move that may be activated. The players may earn power-ups which can develop the players. They also may gain DNA Helix which can activate extra content and get tokens for implementing the fighting skills.
Thirdly, Spider-Man and his supporters can destroy enemy waves with Hero Strikes. The impact of each Hero Strike is the same, but it differs on the opponent used. Lastly, hero Strikes may only be activated with tokens obtained from the updated store or received in the real world.
